Memory Lane - Lorain Ohio
Hold It Self Storage sits on the site of the former Lorain Drive In Theater.
The outdoor theater operated from 1956 until 1986. Many have fond
memories of their evenings here, whether they visited dressed in their pajamas
with their parents, watched the latest movie with their favorite gal or guy, or
treated their children to that special family night out.
Along with other drive in theaters across the country,
The Lorain Drive In - fell victim to changing lifestyles, the advent of VCR's, cable television, and
other home entertainment technologies, and entertained its last audience in 1986.
It's gone but not forgotten. The site still houses the original projection booth, the
concession stand, and the entrance and exit, you see pictured here. The owner is
committed to keeping the memory alive as he proudly displays 50's memorabilia.

Lorain Drive In, Lorian Ohio - closed 1986
This was originally a single screen drive-in, with a concrete screen, and a playground. In 1965, extremely high winds damaged the screen to the point that it was demolished, and a steel-framework one erected.
In the mid-1970’s, a second screen was added, and the drive-in remained open until the late-1980’s.
